Amber Dextrous

What is Amber ?

Amber is a charity dedicated to working with unemployed, homeless young people.

We give them a place to live in one of our houses where there is 24 hour support. We give them the space and time away from negative peer pressure where they can rebuild their confidence and self esteem and start to look to a brighter future.

Many of our Amber residents, or as we prefer Amberteers, have had a history of drugs or drug related crime, some will have been in prison as a result. Most will have severed relations with parents and have often hit rock bottom. In order to come to Amber, individuals need to show us that they want to change their past way of life and start afresh. Often they have little if any work experience or even basic skills. Amber helps with basic skill education and Amberteers can gain recognised qualifications whilst at Amber.

Why Amber Dextrous ?

Amber Dextrous was started in order to give Amberteers the opportunity of working in a small business and being part of it. An Amberteer will work for up to 15 hours a week in a voluntary capacity, learning about pricing, stock control, manual handling, customer service, and for those who have an interest in possibly starting their own valeting business, we will send them on the Auto Smart Valeting Course, and let them learn their trade under supervision at Amber Dextrous.
